Pinarayi Vijayan lashes out at UDF rule
THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Ahead of the Nava Kerala March, CPM politburo member Pinarayi Vijayan has come down heavily on the UDF governnment accusing it of al-round failure and corruption.
In an article, Mr Vijayan listed out major failures of the government during its tenure so far. "Land was promised to 3.5 lakh landless families across the state but the announcement remains largely on paper," he said.
The state is in a complete financial mess. "Even finance department's owns estimates project general debt to cross Rs 1,59,523 crore by the end of current financial year," he said.
Mr Vijayan said of the 40 mega projects, each costing more than Rs 5 crore, only 13 could take off.
As many as 217 projects were listed in 2014-15 but only 20 were implemented. The state had topped only in corruption issues - bar bribe, solar fraud, Kadakampally land scam and Consumerfed corruption.
Meanwhile, Jatha members M. B. Rajesh and P. K. Biju said that they were looking forward to connect with people in 140 Assembly constituencies.
"We have formulated our vision for new Kerala. Social media network will be used extensively to place our views," Mr Rajesh said.
Four public meetings have been planned for each day. Jatha leader will also interact with people from a cross section of society and media daily.
Mr Biju said the LDF had successfully implemented majkor campaigns like total literacy campaign and peoples’ campaign.
"We are hopeful of bringing development back on state's agenda," he said.
On many young faces in the team, the MP said the participation of youth was vital for development. "The yatra will ignite young minds in all spheres including education, health and infrastructure," he said.
The young MPs felt that felt that SNC Lavalin case would boomerang on the UDF.
