DMRC to chalk out land acquisition plans in Kozhikode.

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) will take up the challenging task of chalking out plans for land acquisition plans in Thiruvananthapuram and Kozhikode once it inks a pact for becoming interim consultancy for the project next week.

Around Rs 750 crore has been earmarked for the acquisition in first phase that involves widening of 14 km roads for the project in both cities.

“Along with the plans for land acquisition, DMRC will now make detailed models will be made on the light metro stations and flyovers. The traffic re-arrangement plans during the execution of the project will have to made as it happens in a highly saturated stretch. Further underground cables, pipes etc has to be identified for shifting,” said an official.

“The district administrations will get a road map in terms of land acquisition once fine details of project are confirmed," he added.

Around Rs 5.5 crore will be paid in installments to DMRC as it will ink a pact with the government on Wednesday. More survey and planning experts will be deputed to the offices of DMRC in both the cities.

It took several adjustment from the government to rope the company to take part in the Rs 6728 crore project.
