Haj forms to be submitted by february 8

Applicants would have to remit Rs 300 per head at SBI or the Union Bank of India.

Hyderabad: ACB director-general A.K. Khan commenced the Haj Season 2016 by releasing application forms for the pilgrimage at Haj House in the city on Thursday.

He advised pilgrims not to fall prey to private tour operators. Before booking a seat with them, ensure their genuineness and the quota allotted to them by the ministry of foreign affairs, Mr Khan told pilgrims.

Minorities welfare department secretary Syed Omer Jaleel said the process of selection of Haj pilgrims was transparent and there was no scope of any recommendations.

He said unscrupulous elements were duping applicants promising their selection; there is no scope for selection outside of the Qurrah (draw of lots), Mr Jaleel said.

Prof. S.A. Shukoor, special officer, Telangana State Haj Committee, said the Haj forms would be accepted till February 8. Applicants would have to remit Rs 300 per head at SBI or the Union Bank of India. He said applications would be received from aspirants from AP and Telangana.
