Ernakulam Siva temple festival begins today
Kochi: The eight-day-long annual festival of the city’s Siva Temple will begin on Friday. This time the cultural events will be patterned differently so that connoisseurs of art have a different and wonderful treat.
This time the melams have different pramanams on each day rather than one expert holding sway for eight days. Peruvanam Satheesan Marar, Cherusseri Kuttan Marar, Peruvanam Kuttan Marar, Pazhuvil Raghu Marar, Peruvanam Satheesan Marar, Thirumarayur Rajesh Marar, Kizhakkoott Aniyan Marar and Cheranellur Sankaran Kuttan Marar will lead the melam from the first to the eigth day, respectively. .
A total of 16 tuskers will add to the pride of the festival. They include Thiruvambadi Sivasundar, Pambadi Rajan, Thiruvambadi Chandrasekharan, Paramekkavu Sree Padmanabhan, Kongadu Kuttisankaran and Bastin Vinayasundar,
Panchavadyam will be led by Chottinakkara Vijayan Marar, Kunisseri Chandran, Pallavoor Raghava Pisharadi, Thichoor Mohan and Machad Manikandan.
A Mohiniyattom performance by danseuse Methil Devika will be held on January 16 at 6.30 at the DH Ground.
On the same day, there will be a Bharatanatyam performance by Dakshina Vaidyanthan. Actor and singer Vineeth Sreenivasan will stage a ganamela on January 21 at 9.00 pm.
