Change of district in-charge minister of Chikkamagaluru on cards
Chikkamagaluru: Change of district in-charge minister is on the cards in Chikkamagaluru with minister for fisheries, Abhaychandra Jain, set to be replaced by home minister Dr G Parameshwar.
A decision in this regard would be taken soon as Mr Abhaychandra Jain, who represents Moodabidre Assembly constituency in Dakshina Kannada district, told party leaders that he would not be able to handle Chikkamagaluru district. Dr Parameshwar, however, seems keen to take over as district in-charge minister of Tumakuru, his home district, replacing law minister T B Jayachandra.
District Congress president Vijaykumar told Deccan Chronicle on Tuesday that “Change of district incharge minister has nothing to do with the Congress party’s defeat in the recently concluded Legislative Council polls. Mr Jain had requested that he be relieved of Chikkamagaluru about a month and half ago. Dr Parameshwar, who is also KPCC president, is likely to be given the charge of our district.” Mr Jain reportedly told party leaders that he was keen to concentrate more on his constituency and his ministry. He reportedly told party leaders that handling Chikkamagaluru meant additional work load, making his job tougher. On the performance of Mr Jain as district in-charge minister, Mr Vijaykumar said “He has contributed to development of Chikkamagaluru during whatever time he had on hand.” He said the new district in-charge minister would have his task cut out ahead of polls to zilla and taluk panchayats.
