Hyderabad: Hyderabad witnessed a traffic gridlock on major roads like Tank Bund, Begumpet to Secunderabad, Lakdi-ka-pul to NMDC, Malakpet-Dilsukhnagar-Hayatnagar to name a few.
Vehicular traffic moved at snail’s pace and the reasons were multiple. Motorists were stuck on the Tank Bund for over an hour and nearly 3,000 traffic personnel, who were on duty, struggled to clear the gridlock.
If the traffic diversions for the rally taken out by TD-BJP combine as a show of strength while reaching the Nizam College Grounds, the venue of the public meeting, was the main reason for traffic gridlock on Tank Bund, Lakdi-ka-pul, Masab Tank and NMDC roads, it was the special buses to meet the festival rush and the anti-ISIS rally and at Vanasthalipuram that caused the gridlock.
An accident on SP Road resulted in traffic being held up for over an hour in the evening.
DCP (Traffic) A.V. Ranganath said the traffic cops were trying to clear the traffic jams till late in the evening.
