Auto driver booked for harassing 2 Russian tourists in Kerala
Thiruvananthapuram: An autorickshaw driver has been booked for allegedly harassing two Russian tourists recently in Varkala in Thiruvananthapuram.
The tourists had filed a complaint before the Kerala Women's commission alleging that the autorickshaw driver had manhandled and harassed them on January 22.
The tourists, Irena Zykina and Natalia, hailing from Siberia, had booked an autorickshaw but when they were about to board it another driver prevented them from doing so and allegedly manhandled and harassed one of them, a press release from the commission said.
The driver, identified as Jalaludeen, obstructed Zykina as she tried to get into another vehicle and tried to force her to hire his autorickshaw instead.
When she refused, the driver allegedly misbehaved with her.
After receiving the complaint, the commission directed Varkala police to register a case and complete the probe as early as possible.
A case has been registered against the accused driver under relevant sections of the IPC.
