Hyderabad: Gang of thieves on trains held
A Five member gang including two women and three kids who were involved in thefts in trains were arrested by Railway Police on Thursday and recovered goods worth around RS 12 lakh from their possession.
Secunderabad Railway Police Superintendent Mr S.J. Janardhan said that the accused women M Shoba 36 and V Manjula 26, both residents of Secunderabad are working as daily labour. Since their earnings were not enough, they started committing thefts for easy money.
“Their three kids also assisted them in committing thefts in moving trains with huge rush and from passengers standing at the booking counters, escalators and waiting for the train on the platform." he said.
They stole gold ornaments, cash and wallets and handbags of passengers. Based on a tip off, Police arrested them. They admitted their involvement in as many as 12 cases registered at Secunderabad railway Police station. Police also seized 43 tolas of gold, 9 tolas of silver all worth around Rs 12 lakh. The two women were sent to remand, while the kids were sent to rescue home.
