Three get bail in sextortion case
Vijayawada: Three persons accused in the sextortion case at Machavaram police station have been granted bail by Mahila Court in the city on Tuesday. The trio includes pri-me accused Yalaman-chili Sri Rama Murthy, his bodyguard and accused No. 2 Bhavani Shankar and accused No. 7 Dudala Rajesh.
They were booked under Sections 420, 376, 354A, 384, 509, 506(34) and 120(b) of IPC on December 11 after a woman who was sexually exploited and abused in the guise of offering financial help approa-ched police commissioner D Gautam Sawang and lodged a complaint.
Sri Rama Murthy and Rajesh were arrested on December 13 by Machavaram police. The police, from December 19 in the presence of defence lawyers, questioned them for six days and also conducted sexual potency tests during the custody. Bhavani Shankar, the head of the gang of five bouncers who worked for Sri Rama Murthy, was arrested on December 18.
However, Rama Murthy would continue to stay in judicial custody as he was arrested in another case on January 13. Bhavani Shankar and Rajesh would be relieved from custody.
