Man found dead in pool
Hyderabad: An event manager who went to attend his friend's birthday party at a farmhouse in Chengicherla was found dead in a swimming pool on the premises on Monday midnight. The event manager, N. Vamshi Krishna, and 19 friends gathered at Mariegold Farmhouse owned by Raghupathi Reddy to celebrate the birthday of their friend Shiva Kumar.
The party which started at around 3.30 pm on Monday went on till 12.30 am. While his friends were dancing, Vamshi went out to swim alone. After sometime his friends found that he had drowned in the pool and took him to a private hospital where doctors declared him brought dead. Police detained 19 of his friends for questioning.
The deceased, N. Vamshi Kiran, 24, a resident of Himayath Nagar, discontinued studies after Intermediate and was working as a freelance event organiser. On Monday he left home saying that he was going to attend the birthday party of his friend and would be late.
Vamshi’s friend D. Shiva Kumar who had his birthday on Sunday, arranged the party as per the request of his friends at Mariegold Farmhouse in Medipally. Police said that he managed to get the farmhouse through a relative of the owner, Raghupathy Reddy. They chose the place to avoid police raids.
The party began at 3.30 pm. Some people left later but around 20 people including Vamshi and Shiva stayed on. Around 12.30 am on Tuesday they became fully drunk and started dancing again. The watchman tried to control them and informed supervisor Venkat. “While everyone was dancing Vamshi went to the pool to swim. He could have drowned as he was drunk. Except for a small scar on the left shoulder and left toe there are no injuries,” said SI K. Nagaiah.
After sometime, Shiva and M. Shashi Kumar came out and found something floating in the pool. When they came close they found that it was Vamshi and called their friends. They and two others, Piyush Agarwal and Mallikarjun, took their friend to a nearby hospital where doctors declared him dead.
Vamshi’s family suspects foul play and alleged that he might have died due to poisoning. He had called his mother at around 9 pm and said that he would be coming home late. “He was a good swimmer. How can he drown in two feet deep water,” asked Vamshi’s uncle R. Mahesh. Farmhouse staffers said CCTVs were not working.
Vamshi, who was a boxer, has participated in state-level boxing championships. He is survived by his mother, brother and a sister. Based on a complaint from his elder brother Balakrishna, a suspicious death case was registered.
