Hit-and-run case: Armyman's son kills HCL driver in Hyderabad
The son of a senior Army official has absconded after causing a fatal car crash at Trimulgherry cross roads killing a driver of HCL Technologies on Thursday. Soon after the crash, some Army soldiers reportedly took the accused, who suffered minor injuries, to an undisclosed hospital without revealing details to the police.
The 20-year-old youth was allegedly driving the car without a driving licence, HCL Technologies employees said.
Despite confiscating the vehicle, Trimulgherry police says they do not know who the driver was. Cops registered a FIR under Section 304A for causing death by negligence. However, they could not name the suspect even after three days of investigation. Two other HCL employees were injured in the crash.
“Around 6:45 am on Thursday the HCL cab carrying employees was going towards Neredmet. After the driver took a turn at Trimulgherry cross roads, near the military hospital curve, a car rammed the cab. The driver died on the spot and two HCL employees were injured,” said an HCL employee.
The cab driver, D. Srinivas, 28, belonged to Siddipet. His body was handed over to his family after postmortem. Police investigation into the crash has not made progress. Despite several eyewitnesses present at the spot police could not collect details of the driver.
“We do not know anything about the driver yet. All we know is that the car belongs to an Army official. After the crash, Army soldiers took the driver to a hospital and we have no idea which hospital it is,” said SI M. Krishna Murthy of the Trimulgherry PS.
The SI added that the car’s registration number was JH 01 AW 6655. “But we do not know the name of the owner” the SI added.
HCL employees allege that the Army official is trying to rescue his son by influencing the police. However, cops denied the allegation.
