Burglary gang held, gold seized
Hyderabad: The police arrested a three-member gang on Saturday involved in burgling houses in the Secunderabad area and seized Rs 2 lakh, 18 tolas of gold and 550 grams of silver from them. North Zone DCP N. Prakash Reddy said the trio, Md Nisar Ansari, Md Gulam Rasool and Syed Kasim Ali, committed the offence by breaking open the lock of a house in Srinivas Nagar in the Secunderabad area under Chilkalguda police station limits.
Last Monday evening, the victim R. Susheel Kumar, and his wife went to an exhibition at Nampally. When they returned at around 10.30 pm, they found that the main door latch of their house was broken and the almirah in the bedroom was also open. Everything was scattered in the house.
“They decamped with gold and silver jewellery and Rs 2.07 lakh cash. Credit and debit cards were also missing,” he said. On a tip-off, special teams from the Chilkalguda police station nabbed the three under suspicious conditions. “During investigation, they admitted that they had sold some silver to passersby at the Secunderabad railway station for Rs 20,000,” added the DCP. The arrested persons were sent to judicial custody by the judge who heard the case.
