Hyderabad: Telangana forensic investigators will soon get 3D scanners that can scan the crime scene and Reflective Ultra Violet Imaging Systems that can detect fingerprints without using powder.
Sources at the Telangana Forensic Science Laboratory said the government had ordered both the hi-tech equipments.
“The 3D scanner costs around Rs 50 lakh and the RUVIS will cost Rs 25 to Rs 30 lakh. They have been ordered and we will be receiving them in the next few weeks.”
3D scanner images and video will help calculate the distance between objects at the crime scene in a fraction of a second and also help in the reconstruction of the crime scene quickly.
The RUVIS is an equipment worn on the head using which fingerprints can be lifted easily from crime scenes.
This equipment will be used in major crimes like bomb blasts, murders and serious property offences.
