Australian cricketers talk about fashion on the red carpet at The Allan Border Medal ceremony.

Melbourne: The Allan Border Medal, named after the former Australian skipper introduced in 2000, is the most coveted honour in Australian cricket. David Warner clinched the award held on Wednesday. Besides the reward, cricketers’ fashion statement became the talk of the town.

Warner, who won two awards including the Test Player of the Year, appeared at the red carpet with Joe Burns. The southpaw took a dig at his colleague teasing about his hairstyle and tie.

“Tonight, it’s time for the ladies,” said Warner endorsing Burns’ off-field charisma.

Pat Cummins, on the other hand, went a step ahead and said James Pattinson is the bloke who takes the longest to get ready.

“I think Pattinson, maybe Marcus Stoinis too. The Victorians love the mirror,” he said.

“I actually have a mirror in my pocket at the moment,” laughed Stoinis.

Mitchell Starc’s partner, Alyssa, wore heels to match up to the speedster’s height.

“Hopefully I won’t have injuries towards the end of the week,” she joked.

Steve Smith reckoned 2015 to be a special year for winning the World Cup at home.

The newly-retired Mitchell Johnson and Ryan Harris were present in the event looking dapper with bow and suit.

“He followed me into retirement,” Harris pulled Johnson’s leg.
