AUS vs IND: India already have Adelaide advantage

Australia is yet to taste victory at this venue, lost in both occasions.

Adelaide: Team India will start their T20 campaign against Australia here on Tuesday after losing the ODI series 1-4. Though the hosts will be favourites considering their top form but there can be a twist in the tale.

Why?

The venue, Adelaide Oval, hosted only two T20 encounters in the past and Australia lost in both occasions.

They played the first T20 here against England in 2011 which they lost by one wicket in the last ball.

Shane Watson scored a 31-ball 59 which took the total to 157/4 at the end of 20 overs.

But those days, England had Kevin Pietersen (25 off 11). He, along with Eoin Morgan (43 off 33), took the game away from the Australians.

Shaun Tait and Watson, making a comeback in today’s match, were a part of the Australian team in the match against England.

Australia lost the second T20 to South Africa in 2014.

Watson (47 off 36) once again stood out. James Faulkner (41* off 33) played a cameo in the end but the team could not post a competitive total (144/6).

The Proteas, rode on Quinton de Kock (46) and Rilee Rossouw (78) and chased it down with an over to spare.

Can Australia break the jinx against Mahendra Singh Dhoni’s troop? It remains to be seen.

Watch out for Watson.
