Stage set for domestic T20 super league
Mumbai: The focus will be on the likes of Hardik Pandya, Ashish Nehra and Suresh Raina when the Super League of the Syed Mushtaq Ali Twenty20 tournament gets underway here on Friday. Big-hitting Baroda allrounder Hardik Pandya who has made his way to the Twenty20 squad for Australia will also like to build on his form. Pandya had scores of 54, 38, 48 and 81 to go with his seven wickets for Baroda.
Veteran left-arm pacer Ashish Nehra is making a comeback to the national side after five years and he will be keen to get some wickets behind him before travelling to Australia. Raina was not included in the ODI team to Australia and he will be eager to make a point.
It will also be a chance for budding players to impress the Indian selectors and IPL franchises. Jasprit Bumrah who is on standby for the Australia tour would also be looking to impress. The eight teams have been divided into two groups. Baroda have been placed in Group ‘A’ with hosts Mumbai, Kerala and Vidarbha. Delhi have been placed in Group ‘B’ with champs Gujarat, Jharkhand and UP.
