Revanth has fine rice lunch with beneficiary

Revanth Reddy had launched the fine rice scheme, said to be the first such in the country, at Huzurnagar on Ugadi, March 30

Nalgonda: Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy sat comfortably on the floor and had a meal prepared with fine rice supplied under the public distribution system (PDS), at the house of a beneficiary, Boram Srinivas in Sarapaka village of Kothagudem-Bhadradri’s Burgampadu mandal, after praying at the Bhadrachalam Lord Rama temple on Sri Rama Navami.

The Chief Minister had launched the fine rice scheme, said to be the first such in the country, at Huzurnagar on Ugadi, March 30.

Also present were Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka, ministers Tummala Nageswara Rao and Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy, Chief Secretary Santhi Kumari, and other officials.

Speaking with members of the Srinivas family, Revanth Reddy talked to about their well-being. He asked family member Tulasamma about the quality and utility of the fine rice provided by the government.

Tulasamma said she was happy, noting that the transition from coarse rice to fine rice had improved their meal preparations in a big way.

The discussion extended to other welfare measures. Tulasamma confirmed that the family was benefiting from 200 units of free electricity, the Rs.500 subsidised gas cylinder scheme, and free travel on TGSRTC buses for women.

In recognition of the family’s support and as a gesture of goodwill, the Chief Minister presented clothes to the family members. The visit was well-attended, with a large gathering of villagers turning out at Srinivas’s house.

Earlier, Revanth Reddy and his wife Geetha offered prayers at the Sri Sita Ramachandraswamy temple, where priests accorded them a traditional Vedic welcome. On behalf of the government, he presented silk garments and ‘Mutyala Talambralu (pearls mixed with turmeric and rice)’ to the deities. They later took part in the celestial wedding of the divine couple at Mithila Stadium.
