Chhattisgarh: CoBRA commando, Maoist killed in Sukma encounter

Gunfight erupted during anti-Maoist op in Chhattisgarh; 3 CoBRA men injured, one Maoist killed

Raipur: A jawan of the Commando Battalion for Resolute Action (CoBRA) and a Maoist were on Thursday killed during an encounter in a jungle in Sukma district under south Bastar in Chhattisgarh.

Two jawans were also injured in the incident, police said. The encounter took place in the Tumrel forest.

A joint search party comprising jawans of 210th CoBRA battalion, special task force (STF) and district reserve guard (DRG) came under attack by armed Naxals in Tumrel forest, leading to the encounter, police said.

Three jawans of CoBRA were injured in the incident. One of them died on the way to the local hospital, police said. The other two injured jawans were airlifted to Raipur for treatment. Security forces recovered some weapons along with the body of a Maoist at the encounter site.
