CCB To Investigate Retired DG Death

The FIR against Pallavi and Kriti has been registered based on a complaint by Om Prakash’s son Karthikesh (38) wherein he alleged his mother Pallavi allegedly threatened to kill his father about a week back.

BENGALURU: The alleged murder case of retired DG and IGP Om Prakash registered in HSR Layout police station of Bengaluru city has been transferred to sleuths of Central Crime Branch (CCB), Bengaluru. HSR police of Bengaluru city on Monday registered a First Information Report (FIR) against Pallavi, wife of late Director General and Inspector General of Police (DG and IGP) Om Prakash who was found dead in a pool of blood at his residence in HSR Layout of Bengaluru city on Sunday evening. Even her daughter Kriti has been named as an accused in the FIR.

It may be recalled here that the police patrolling team came across Pallavi and Kriti inside their residence in HSR Layout where the body of Om Prakash was lying in a pool of blood.

The FIR against Pallavi and Kriti has been registered based on a complaint by Om Prakash’s son Karthikesh (38) wherein he alleged his mother Pallavi allegedly threatened to kill his father about a week back. Besides, he alleged, his mother and sister frequently fought with his father and that might have led to his murder of his father at the hands of his mother Pallavi and sister Kriti.

Fearing threat to his life, Karthikesh alleged his father stayed with his sister before he was made to return on the insistence of my sister Kriti. However, an unwilling Om Prakash returned to his HSR Layout residence a couple of days back owing to pressure from Kriti.

On the day of tragedy, he said, he was at the Karnataka Golf Association in Domlur of Bengaluru city and came to know about his father lying in a pool of blood through one of his neighbor and rushed to the spot only to find a broken bottle and a knife (alleged to have used in the murder of his father) close to the body of his father. Karthikesh demanded suitable legal action against them.

Minister of Home Dr G. Parameshwar told reporters in Bengaluru no arrests have been made so far in connection to the alleged murder of Om Prakash while his wife Pallavi has been detained by the police for questioning. Recalling the service of Om Prakash as DG and IGP, Parameshwar said, Om Prakash was a good person and a competent officer.

Meanwhile, Police Inspector Srinivas Gowda, who knew Om Prakash from close quarters, told reporters he had a closer look at the body of Om Prakash at the crime scene and came across two injury marks in close proximity to each other just beneath the left ear.

“I had a telephonic conversation with him at around 3.10 pm on Sunday and then Om Prakash was okay,” said the Inspector and suspected Om Prakash might have held his breath even after attack from a sharp weapon slashing nerves in the neck just below the left ear but might have breathed his last after he was hit by a strong object at the back of his head.

According to Srinivas Gowda, Om Prakash feared his wife the most and did not entertain police officers to meet him at his residence and recalled Om Prakash had once brought to his notice his wife Pallavi undergoing treatment for mental illness and he had spent lakhs of rupees to get her well. Pallavi suffered from mental illness for some years such as depression, mood swings among others. Srinivas Gowda stated Om Prakash had the idea to stay away from his wife after the marriage of his daughter.

The final rites of Om Prakash were conducted at Wilson Garden crematorium in Bengaluru and earlier in the day, mortal remains of late DG and IGP were kept for public viewing.
