UK Urges Restraint as India-Pakistan Tensions Rise After Operation Sindoor

British Prime Minister Keir Starmer on Wednesday told Parliament that the UK is actively engaging with India and Pakistan to promote dialogue and de-escalation following Indian military strikes on terror camps in Pakistan and PoK under Operation Sindoor. Addressing the House of Commons, Starmer acknowledged widespread concern in Britain and stressed the importance of protecting civilians. Foreign Secretary David Lammy echoed the urgency, warning that further escalation would benefit no one and reiterated the UK’s condemnation of the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack. The UK also updated its travel advisory, citing risks near the LoC. Former ministers and MPs across parties expressed alarm, with some warning of a “real potential for war.”
