South Bengal Sees Rain for Second Day as Low Pressure Builds Over Bay

Kolkata and several parts of South Bengal received rain for the second consecutive day on Tuesday due to a low-pressure area over the Bay of Bengal, the IMD said. Kolkata recorded 35.1 mm rainfall in 24 hours, and the system is expected to intensify, triggering heavy to very heavy showers in districts like South 24 Parganas, Kalimpong, and Alipurduar. The showers, attributed to pre-monsoon activity, disrupted traffic in the city, while moderate rain and gusty winds are forecast across more districts.
