Cyclone Intensifies Over Bay of Bengal; Heavy Rains, Strong Winds Expected Along Andhra Coast
Amaravati: A cyclonic storm over the west-central Bay of Bengal has intensified and is moving north-northwestwards at a speed of 10 kmph. The system is currently centered about 100 km from Machilipatnam, 180 km from Kakinada, and 270 km from Visakhapatnam.
According to weather officials, the cyclone is likely to cause slightly severe damage as it approaches the Andhra Pradesh coast. Heavy to very heavy rainfall is expected in the coastal districts, accompanied by strong winds reaching speeds of 90–110 kmph during the peak period.
Authorities have advised residents in vulnerable areas to remain indoors and take necessary precautions as the system continues to intensify.
