Cyclone Montha Batters Andhra Coast; Heavy Rains, Gales Lash Coastal Districts

The impact of Cyclone Montha has begun to be felt across Andhra Pradesh, with the situation turning alarming in several coastal areas. The sea has turned rough, with giant waves crashing violently along the shoreline, causing panic among residents in low-lying and seaside villages.

Heavy rains are lashing North Andhra to Nellore, accompanied by dark clouds covering the entire coastal belt. Strong gusty winds continue to intensify, leading to widespread damage. Reports indicate roofs of houses being blown away, roads getting washed out, and trees and electric poles collapsing under the force of the wind.

Authorities have urged residents in vulnerable coastal regions to remain indoors and move to relief shelters wherever necessary. Disaster response teams have been deployed to handle emergencies and restore disrupted power lines.

The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has warned of continued heavy rainfall and strong winds in the coming hours as Cyclone Montha advances inland. Fishermen have been strictly advised not to venture into the sea until further notice.
