Nissan to Bring 3 New Cars, Starting With Gravite MPV

The price of the Gravite will be announced at a later date. When launched, it will face competition from the likes of Maruti Ertiga, Toyota Rumion, and Citroen C3 Aircross.

Pune: Nissan, the Japanese car giant, struggling for a foothold in the fiercely competitive Indian car market, is doubling down with three all-new vehicles lined up over the next 16 months, starting with the launch of Nissan Gravite, an upcoming 7-seater MPV (multipurpose vehicle) in January 2026.

The price of the Gravite will be announced at a later date. When launched, it will face competition from the likes of Maruti Ertiga, Toyota Rumion, and Citroen C3 Aircross.

The product offensive after Gravite, includes the Tekton in mid-2026 and a 7-seater SUV in early 2027 as Nissan expands to diversify its India portfolio.

The Gravite will be manufactured at Renault-Nissan's Chennai factory.

Its aggressive strategy is based on a strong belief that India will play a much bigger role in Nissan’s global future.

Nissan is also expanding its dealer network across Tier I and Tier II cities to support the launches.

Gravite is positioned as a versatile family car, featuring modular seating configurations and storage solutions for passenger and cargo adaptability.

"India continues to be a strong contributor to AMIEO's performance, and Nissan Motor India plays a pivotal role in our strategy,” said Massimiliano Messina, chairman, Nissan AMIEO (Africa, Middle East, India, Europe & Oceania).

He said over FY25, it had strengthened business operations, expanded its portfolio, and delivered on every promise made under its 2024 product offensive.

“The upcoming line-up---shaped by global insights yet deeply attuned to the needs of Indian customers---reflects our commitment to this dynamic market,” Messina noted.

“With new models developed in and for India, and exports to several international markets, India remains both a growth driver and a strategic hub for Nissan Alliance,” he pointed out.

Saurabh Vatsa, MD, Nissan Motor India, said as the second model in its all-new product line-up, the Gravite marks a pivotal step in delivering vehicles that resonate with the aspirations of Indian consumers.
