Mumbai: The market today posted a single biggest intra-day fall over the past three months as the benchmark Sensex fell 1.65 per cent or 465 points ending at 27,827.50. For the first time, the Nifty ended below 8,600 at the closing hours today.
Earlier in the day the, the BSE benchmark index plunged around 500 points as the news of the Indian Army conducting a “surgical strike” inside the PoK poured in.
The Nifty 50 index slipped 1.76 per cent or 153 points to end at 8,591.25 level. The Bank Nifty was down 2.39 per cent or 469 points 19183.70 at the closing hours.
