MFIs business rises 84 per cent in Q4

The analysis was based on data collected from 56 NBFC-MFIs.

Mumbai: The aggregate gross loans made by the microfinance companies stood at Rs 53,233 crore as on March 31, 2016, with the last quarter of FY15-16 showing a growth of 84 per cent in its gross loan portfolio (GLP) compared to the yearago period.

According to the 17th edition of Micrometre of the Microfinance Institutions Network (MFIN), there was a 36 per cent rise in total number of loans disbursed by MFIs in FY15-16 when compared to FY14-15.

The analysis was based on data collected from 56 NBFC-MFIs. Average loan amount disbursed for each beneficiary has also witnessed a growth in FY15-16 and stands at Rs 17,805 as compared to Rs 14,731 in FY14-15. This was possible as the average GLP per branch is now at Rs 5.5 crore, up by 51 per cent over FY14-15 and average GLP per loan officer stands has risen by 33 per cent at '98 lakhs, over the last FY14-15.
