Lokesh Says LG Progress Is Speed Of Doing Business In Action
“From handover of land in May 2025 to remarkable progress today, LG Electronics is moving at a rapid speed and scale. It underscores Andhra Pradesh’s ability to transition quickly from approvals to execution in just seven months, while maintaining global standards”: Nara Lokesh

VIJAYAWADA: IT and Real Time Governance (RTG) minister N. Lokesh showcased the rapid progress of LG Electronics’ ₹5,000-crore, world-class manufacturing facility at Sri City as a clear example of AP’s speed of doing business in action.
“From handover of land in May 2025 to remarkable progress today, LG Electronics is moving at a rapid speed and scale. It underscores Andhra Pradesh’s ability to transition quickly from approvals to execution in just seven months, while maintaining global standards,” Lokesh underlined on Saturday.
Spread across 247 acres, the facility at Sri City will be LG Electronics’ third manufacturing unit in India. It will manufacture refrigerators, air conditioners, washing machines and key components, significantly strengthening the state’s electronics and consumer durables manufacturing base.
The RTG minister underlined that the project will play a vital role in boosting employment, creating thousands of direct and indirect jobs, and reinforcing the government’s focus on job-led industrial growth.
From the Greenfield parcel handed over in May 2025 to a fast-developing industrial site today, the Sri City project has progressed at an exceptional pace. Once operational, it is expected to emerge as a major hub for consumer durables manufacturing in southern India, while also supporting LG Electronics’ broader strategy of deepening domestic production and supply-chain integration.
Commercial production at the facility is scheduled to begin by end of 2026, with phased expansion continuing through 2029. This approach is designed to align capacity expansion with market demand, while steadily increasing employment and ancillary business opportunities in the region.
Expressing satisfaction at the momentum with which the LG facility is coming up, Lokesh said the project validates the trust global companies have placed in AP’s governance, policy stability and execution capability.
The state government has supported LG through timely land allocation, coordinated clearances and continuous engagement, ensuring that commitments translate swiftly into visible outcomes, the minister Lokesh added.
