MUMBAI: India Post, in association with insurance platform CoverSure, on Wednesday launched Chitthi Aayi Hai, a nationwide awareness campaign aimed at encouraging families to discuss insurance preparedness and financial protection. The campaign revives the iconic blue inland letter to convey the importance of sharing insurance-related information with family members. As part of the initiative, more than 10,000 inland letters will be hand-delivered across 15 cities in 15 states.
Launched at the historic General Post Office in Mumbai, the campaign also marked the introduction of barcode-enabled inland letters by India Post for the first time. The feature allows senders to digitally track their letters. Officials said the barcode facility would be extended to all inland letters in the future.
CoverSure said the campaign was conceived to encourage conversations that families often postpone regarding insurance documentation and financial security.
According to an internal survey conducted by the company, nearly 60 per cent of family dependents are unaware that they are covered under an insurance policy despite premiums being paid for years. The company said this lack of awareness often prevents beneficiaries from accessing policy benefits when required.
Speaking on the initiative, Amitabh Singh, Chief Postmaster General, Maharashtra Circle, said India Post was pleased to support an effort that promotes financial awareness and preparedness. “The hand-delivery of 10,000 inland letters across multiple cities was a reminder of the continuing relevance of physical communication in public awareness campaigns,” he said.
Mr. Singh further said that India Post was proud to have executed the initiative at scale and added that the milestone had been formally registered in its records.
Saurabh Vijayvergia, Founder and Chief Executive Officer of CoverSure, said insurance information should be easily accessible to the people it is intended to protect. He added that the initiative was not a one-time activity but part of a long-term association with India Post focused on public awareness and consumer interest.
