Jio Strengthens Connectivity Leadership in AP Circle, Leads Broadband Growth Across Segments

According to the August subscriber report, Jio added 2.12 lakh wireless mobile subscribers in the Andhra Pradesh circle, taking its total mobile subscriber base to approximately 3.29 crore

Hyderabad: Reliance Jio continued to strengthen its connectivity leadership in the Andhra Pradesh telecom circle, which includes Telangana, recording robust subscriber additions across wireless mobile, wireline broadband and Fixed Wireless Access (FWA) services in August 2026, according to the latest subscriber data released by the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI).
According to the August subscriber report, Jio added 2.12 lakh wireless mobile subscribers in the Andhra Pradesh circle, taking its total mobile subscriber base to approximately 3.29 crore.
At the national level, Jio added approximately 3.7 times more Home Location Register (HLR) net subscribers than Airtel in August, excluding Machine-to-Machine (M2M) connections. Jio was also the only operator to record positive net additions in active VLR subscribers, adding 1.7 million active subscribers during the month. Over the three-month period since May 2026, Jio recorded approximately four times the VLR net additions of its nearest competitor, Airtel.
Wireline Broadband Expansion Continues
Jio maintained strong momentum in fixed-line connectivity in the Andhra Pradesh circle, adding 25,211 wireline connections during August. Its total wireline subscriber base reached approximately 21.55 lakh, underscoring the growing adoption of high-speed broadband services among households, businesses and other users across the region.
The company’s continued expansion in fixed broadband is complemented by the growing uptake of wireless broadband solutions, particularly AirFiber, which extends high-speed internet connectivity to locations where conventional wired infrastructure may be difficult to deploy.
Jio recorded strong growth across both its Fixed Wireless Access technologies in the Andhra Pradesh circle during August. In the 5G FWA segment, the company added 11,058 connections, taking its subscriber base to approximately 7.97 lakh. It also recorded 26,513 net additions in the UBR FWA segment, expanding its subscriber base to approximately 4.67 lakh.
Together, these two technologies account for more than 12.64 lakh connections across the circle, highlighting the increasing role of wireless broadband in meeting the region’s connectivity requirements.
At the national level, Jio continued to lead the home broadband market, adding approximately 2.5 times more home broadband subscribers than its nearest competitor in August. This growth was driven substantially by AirFiber, through which Jio added approximately 4 lakh FWA connections, compared with around 1 lakh additions by Airtel. Jio also maintained its dominant position in the national FWA market, with an estimated market share of 78.6%, adding approximately 4 lakh connections during the month.
The latest TRAI subscriber data highlights Jio’s expanding presence across mobile and broadband connectivity, with strong subscriber additions in the Andhra Pradesh circle complementing its national leadership in active mobile subscribers, home broadband and FWA services.
