Telangana: Migration to GST regime on fast-track

He said the department has set a deadline of June 15 for migration to GST.

HYDERABAD: The Commercial Taxes department is gearing up for a rollout of GST from July 1. Department officials who took part in a programme, “Guidance on GST Implementation”, organised by the Hyderabad Chapter of Jain International Trade Organisation (JITO) here on Friday, said the migration process from one regime to another is progressing fast.

Commercial taxes commissioner V. Anil Kumar and additional commissioner Revathi Rohini interacted with traders and industrialists and clarified their doubts on GST. Anil Kumar asked traders to migrate to GST regime from VAT regime immediately.

He said 86 per cent of migration has been achieved till now and there’s still a backlog of 14 per cent, which needs to be completed by June 15, so that GST trial runs could begin in June.

He said the department has set a deadline of June 15 for migration to GST.

Officials said that with the rolling out of GST, transparency will increase and there will be no scope for tax evasion and other irregularities since the entire transactions would be done online.
