17 per cent of traders haven't filed July's GST returns

The whole idea is to make the filing easier for people who file nil returns.

Hyderabad: Even four months after the rollout of the GST regime, around 17 per cent of indirect tax payers in Telangana have not filed their GST-3B return.
“While 86 per cent tax payers have filed GST 3B return nationally for the month of July, Telangana has reported lower compliance at 83 per cent tax filing,” said GST Hyderabad Zone commissioner Bankey Behari Agrawal at an interactive meeting with traders in Hyderabad on Tuesday.

He urged traders to contact GST officials at seva kendras or write to them for any kind of clarifications.

He said the government is only interested in making the GST stablise and the collection of fines for non-filing is not a priority.

Meanwhile, the government on Tuesday constituted a 10-member committee under GSTN chairman Ajay Bhushan Pandey to look into the requirements of filing returns in current fiscal. The whole idea is to make the filing easier for people who file nil returns.
