Incidence of corruption has come down, says E&Y study
Mumbai: Bribery and corruption in the country seems to have reduced, with 58 per cent of the people interviewed by E&Y saying there was bribery and corruption against 67 per cent and 70 per cent in 2014 and 2012 respectively.
This is still higher than the current global average of 39 per cent and will have to come down if India is to remain an attractive investment destination, says E&Y in its study.
Arpinder Singh, partner and national leader, fraud investigation & dispute services, EY India, reckons that, “India’s focus on maintaining its global perception as an avid business destination requires a thorough follow-through, in terms of adherence to global compliance principles.”
The government is aware of this and making required changes in the law and regulations but changes have to come at the ground level.
