Crude oil futures rise 2.96 pc on global cues

On Multi Commodity Exchange, crude oil for delivery in March traded higher by Rs 64, or 2.96 per cent, to Rs 2,225 per barrel

New Delhi: Crude oil prices on tuesday rose by 2.96 per cent to Rs 2,225 per barrel as participants enlargened their holdings tracking a positive trend overseas.

On the Multi Commodity Exchange, crude oil for delivery in march traded higher by Rs 64, or 2.96 per cent, to Rs 2,225 per barrel in 32,886 lots.

Crude oil for april delivery was up by Rs 65, or 2.92 per cent, to Rs 2,289 per barrel with an open interest of 2,121 lots.

Globally, West Texas intermediate was trading higher by 3.94 per cent at USD 29.83 per barrel and, brent crude was up by 1.96 per cent to USD 30.64 per barrel in New York.

Analysts said raising of bets by participants kept crude prices higher in futures trade.
