New Delhi: Demand for professionals in sectors such as IT, telecom, healthcare and hospitality has gone up in the country, with increased hiring activity in January, says a report. Among top recruiting industries, healthcare posted a two per cent rise and IT, telecom saw a one per cent rise in talent demand. Hiring in travel and hospitality also grew three per cent, according to the latest TimesJobs RecruiteX data.
"Government's clear focus on driving developmental initiatives such as Digital India, Make In India, enabling Startup India and creating Smart Cities is driving growth across all high-skill sectors in the Indian economy," TimesJobs.com COO Vivek Madhukar said.
C-level executives and senior professionals with over 20 years of experience reported a substantial 28 per cent jump in demand during January and among top hiring locations, Chennai performed the best. "Senior-level professionals continue to dominate hiring trends across industries, along with middle-level candidates, as bold new startups run by young and passionate entrepreneurs seek out experienced professionals to guide their ventures," Madhukar added.
The report further noted that recruitment data from the second half of 2015 (July-December) shows that BPO, ITeS and BFSI sectors were the biggest employment generators indicating that the government's job creation initiatives such as Make in India, Digital India, Smart Cities and Skill India have started showing results.
Among metros, Bengaluru topped the recruitment chart followed by Mumbai and Delhi NCR during July-December 2015. Metros also took the maximum job share and saw increased hiring, especially for middle and senior-level positions. Punjab, Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, West Bengal, Kerala and some North-Eastern states also witnessed rise in talent demand during the second half of 2015, though job share in these states was small.
