N Chandrababu Naidu hardsells Andhra Pradesh to Russian investors

Call to develop coastal and internal infrastructure in state.

Visakhapatnam: The two-day dialogue between Indo-Russian defence industry jointly organised by FICCI and Economic Development Board, Government of Andhra Pradesh concluded on Wednesday with Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu calling for raising and accelerating the status of defence partnerships between Andhra Pradesh and Russia and jointly develop the coastal and internal infrastructure in the state.

This dialogue was attended by Russian firm Concern Agat, general director – chief designer, Georgy Antsev and Boris Kotovsky of 'Morinform-system Agat, CHW For-ge, managing director, Mukul Chaudhry and Eastern naval Command (ENC), commander in chief, vice-admiral H.C.S. Bisht.

He said that there are many opportunities in Andhra Pradesh for the defence manufacturing sector and asked the Russian defence equipment manufacturers to invest in the state. He assured transparency with the help of e-governance in giving clearances for setting up defence equipment manufacturing facilities in Andhra Pradesh.

Addressing the delegation, the Chief Minister said that India and Russia are ‘Special privileged strategic partners’ and have a ‘Declaration of Strategic Partnership’ and Andhra Pradesh will carry this strategic partnership further.

“Visakhapatnam was a testimony to the enduring ties with Russia and the long coastline offer opportunities for Russian investors to set up integrated shipyards, ports and coastal corridors,” Mr Naidu said.

He also gave a presentation on Amravati and smart technologies used by Andhra Pradesh in mitigation of drought, improving cleanliness and security.
The two-day dialogue also discussed opportunities for mutual participation in coastal and internal infrastructure Russia giving specific impetus to integrated coastal defe-nce systems.

Meanwhile, the director of department for polices on accessibility and urban planning ministry of cities, Brazil, Diana Motta said that at the BRICS urbanisation forum Brazil wants to share experiences on public policies, urban policies and housing polices in order to better lives in the communities.

“Housing is an important subject in urbanisation and government’s role in housing is to support the demand and integrate housing projects in transportation system and sanitation. It is important to improve urban planning and it is my expectation to know more about best practices from the forum,” she said on the sidelines of the thid BRICS Urbanisation Forum that began on Wednesday.

China’s vice-minister of housing and urban rural development Ni Hong said urban conglomerates on the coastline can develop faster due to their location.
