Hyderabad: Jet engine maker Pratt & Whitney expects to nearly double its training capacity at its Hyderabad centre by the end of this year, according to a top official.
The centre, which trains professionals in high-tech aviation from the Indian subcontinent and Southeast Asia, uses VR-based systems alongside normal engines. “The centre has an ability to train professionals for 5,000 student days per year. By the end of this year, we hope to utilise the two additional classrooms to boost the centre’s capability to 9,000 student days per year,” said Amit Pathak, general manager, India, P&W.
The centre, which is spread over two acres, is equipped with three aircraft engines including the company’s latest engine.
When asked if there were any plans to add a fourth engine to centre, P&W India MD Palash Roy Chowdhury said, “As additional variants of the GTF engine family enter service in the region, additional GTF family engine variants and associated training would be made available.”
