With AI integration, Skilled Jobs will soon be in Demand

Global Artificial Intelligence market is poised to grow at a CAGR of above 35 pc during the forecast period 2015 to 2022.

A study report from World Economic Forum says that Robots will handle as much as 52 pc of the work tasks by 2025. Notable is that Robot revolution is popularizing at a fast pace all over the world and India is no exception to it. A US-based HfS Research predicted that India’s IT services industry will lose 6.4 lakh “low- skilled” jobs to automation in the next five years, quantifying the extent of affect it may cause. The question to be asked is if Robots will do everything, what will remain. The countries, who are in enormous pressure to serve employment to growing population, will be heading towards a major socio-economic failure or will they stand up and do something which can, not only increase chances of employment but can generate meaningful employment for the countrymen.

While Global Artificial Intelligence market is poised to grow at a CAGR of above 35 pc during the forecast period 2015 to 2022, growing number of AI applications in various industries and increasing adoption of AI enabled products & software tools improving consumer services are some of the factors driving the market.

Robot revolution even today contributes 29 percent of the work tasks and as the report “The Future of Jobs 2018” says that it will rise up to 52 pc till 2025 but highly skilled jobs such as sales & marketing, customer service will soon be increasing. Though reskilling the current workforce in time can help counter this challenge. WEF is based near Geneva where it organizes an annual huddle for business leaders and politicians in Switzerland where this report foresees robots replacing human jobs which can be threat to those who are not flexible to change with time.

Coming to skilled jobs in India and Indian Education system, Indians have since the ancient times believed in sending their children to Gurukul which were nothing but schools that used to teach life and war skills to students and today is no different. The only thing to be kept in mind is to keep following the same path. Foreseeing AI in Indian scenario establishment of skill development Universities is very important where the focus is given to jobs that require high precision and skills, such skills which are required to operate most modern machines. With AI integration, the jobs will certainly be demanding, it will require more skilled workforce. It will not lead to unemployment but will lead to better productivity through application of skilled workforce attaining more precise quality production. Skilled workforce will ultimately result in low rejection rate of industrial produce and will directly be adding value to Indian economy earning epithet ‘quality.’
