Visakhapatnam: A total of 182 cell phone towers will be installed soon in the newly former Parvathipuram Manyam district, said collector Nishant Kumar at a review meeting held on 07-02-2023.
Since the district is surrounded by thick forests and a majority of the population are tribals, the towers are needed for development, Kumar said. Of the 182 towers, seven will be established in Jiyyammavalasa mandal, 21 in Komarada, 52 in Gummalakshmipuram, 32 in Kurupam, 18 in Pachipenta, 21 in Saluru, 27 in Seethampeta, two in Makkuva and one each in Bhamini and Parvathipuram mandal.
Sites to erect the towers have been allotted to telecom operators; Airtel and Jio have already started construction works.
Kumar said Parvathipuram Manyam district was identified by the Centre as an aspirational district. He thanked the ministry of communications for sanctioning these towers and instructed telcos to complete the work by June. He also assured full cooperation from the district administration in this endeavour. All project officers of ITDAs as well as revenue officials were present at the meeting.
