117 Innovations Students From Across the Country to be Showcased at IInvenTive 2024

Hyderabad: The city will get to witness innovations developed at 23 IITs, NITs, IISERs and IIITs, the IISc Bangalore, and the top 50 NIRF-ranked engineering institutions for two days from January 19, at IInvenTiv-2024 at the Indian Institute of Technology-Hyderabad (IITH) campus in Gachibowli.

The first day is for industry participants and the event will be open to the public on January 20.

Over 2,000 industry participants are expected at the flagship event of the Union education ministry to showcase research and development and celebrate ingenuity and technological advancements.

Union education minister Dharmendra Pradhan will inaugurate event on January 19. Speaking to the press over video conference, Pradhan said that the event is driven by Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s mantra of ‘Jan Anusandhan’ and is a part of the efforts to strengthen the country’s research and innovation ecosystem.

"The second edition of the event will once again showcase India’s spirit of innovation and enterprise and bring together industry and academia to build an Atmanirbhar and Viksit Bharat," he said.

The focus areas for the 117 projects include affordable healthcare, agriculture and food processing, sustainable technologies (climate change, e-mobility, clean energy), defence and space, and Industry 4.0.

Healthcare will see 35 innovations with IIT-H presenting one on nanofibre-based feminine hygiene products; agriculture and food processing 21 innovations, defence and space 17, industry 4.0 13 and 31 innovations in the sustainable technology space.

In addition to the R&D exhibition, the event will see panel discussions between experts and thought leaders to delve into challenges and opportunities in each domain.

Dr. B.V.R. Mohan Reddy, chairman of the IInvenTiv 2024 steering committee, spoke about the importance of collaboration between academia and industry, stating, “Such initiatives hold great potential in realising the vision of a self-reliant and empowered India.”

IIT Hyderabad Director Prof. B.S. Murty said that he was confident that the industry participants at IInvenTiv-2024 would join hands with the inventors to ensure the commercial realisation of the inventions. Professors Bidyadhar Subudhi, director, NIT Warangal, and Prof. P.J. Narayanan, director, IIIT-Hyderabad, spoke about innovations from their institutes.
