WOW Express provides first mile, last mile, warehousing, e-fulfilment solutions
What is your growth story so far?
Wow Express was started in the year 2015 by three logistics industry veterans Jayesh Kamat, Mazhar Faruqi, and Sandeep Padoshi. WOW Express provides the first mile, last mile, warehousing, and e-fulfilment solutions and is considered a preferred and innovative service provider by its clients. Wow Express covers over 1600 zip codes across 40 cities, with 70 branches as of October 2018. The number of cities it is present increased from 15 to 40 in the same period. We are targeting Rs. 100 Cr revenue in the next two years with 70% coming from e-commerce and 30% coming from WOW Health Express, Consumer-to-Consumer, Warehousing and E-fulfilment.
You had recently raised Rs. 30 crore Series A funding. What's next for WOW Express?
We at WOW Express are planning to double our reach in the next 12-13 months. Currently, WOW Express serves in 50 cities and is conducting 20,000-25,000 shipments per day. We intend to double these deliveries per day soon. Also, we are focusing on immediate expansion and strengthening technologies to ensure new verticals and advanced technologies such as Machine Learning, Artificial Intelligence, and Analytics so that end to end visibility can be provided to customers. We are now planning raise a USD 10 Million series B round in the next six months.
How do you differenciate you from the clutter in the sector?
We use technology to provide visibility of pickup and delivery of parcels and our technology ensures error free and efficient delivery and pick up, which has really made us excel in our customer satisfaction. Wow Express has opted for air transport to ensure fast delivery than their competition. Seventy-five percent of our long haul is through the air. What we believe is if we work with the right partners and focus on service it doesn't matter if we spend Rs. 5 more per kg. We always commit to be fastest in the industry.
Can you give us a brief about your expansion plans?
We plan to be in 100 cities in the next one year. We have also launched C2C courier services along with the launch of WOW Now, a technology-enabled logistics service that is reliable and offers domestic and international courier services at affordable prices. WOW Express has also ventured in to healthcare and diagnostics sector with WOW Health Express that offers a technology-enabled logistics solution for medicine deliveries, hospital supplies and diagnostic facilities. This includes pickup and delivery of bodily fluids such as blood, bone marrow, tissue etc.
We plan to open 80 new branches in the next 1 year, thereby, taking the total number of our branches to 150.
Who are your major clientele?
We are currently servicing a major share of Nykaa’s orders, our other clients also include marquee e-commerce players such as Amazon, Shein, Zivame, Limeroad, Tatacliq etc. Under WOW Health Express, our customers include Dr. Lal’s Path Lab, NetMeds, Cipla, Lilac Insights, Dr. Sehgals Path lab etc.
