At present, furnishing of father's name is mandatory for the allotment of PAN card.
As per the draft it is proposed to amend the IT rules so as to provide that furnishing of father's name will not be mandatory for a person whose mother is the single parent.(Representional Image)
New Delhi: Soon children of single mothers will need not provide the name of their father for getting a PAN card.
This is proposed by IT department in a draft notification seeking to amend rule 114 of the IT Rules, 1962 and permanent account number application Forms (Form 49A and Form 49AA).
At present, furnishing of father’s name is mandatory for the allotment of PAN.
As per the draft it is proposed to amend the IT rules so as to provide that furnishing of father’s name will not be mandatory for a person whose mother is the single parent.
Income tax department has invited comments from public till September 17, 2018.
