RBI Governor-designate Urjit Patel meets Jaitley

Mumbai: Finance Minister Arun Jaitley today held a closed-door meeting with Reserve Bank Governor-designate Urjit Patel. The meeting was held immediately after an interactive session on income declaration and gold monetisation schemes, which was jointly organised by industry chamber Ficci and auditors body ICAI.
Apart from Patel, who will take charge from outgoing RBI Governor Raghuram Rajan on September 6, the meeting was attended by CBDT Chairperson Rani Singh-Nair and Principal Chief Commissioner of Income Tax, Mumbai, D S Saksena.
The minister is learnt to have reviewed the two Government-run schemes and clarified certain queries about them. The RBI is involved in implementation of the gold monetisation scheme.
