Higher food, metal and mineral prices have been pushing export growth in the previous quarters. The war-induced inflation will continue to boost export revenues going ahead as well.
As per the data of World Bank, food prices were 12.6% up in September quarter and base metals were up by 35%. It estimates that commodity prices are set to rise 23% in 2026 as global shocks mount. Of this, energy prices may move up 32% and food prices by 10% in 2026.
“Amidst global uncertainties and supply chain realignments, growth in India’s exports is expected to be supported by continued market and product diversification, opportunities arising from effective utilisation of recent trade agreements with key trading partners, and continued demand in major export destinations,” EXIM Bank said.
India’s positive export outlook is also likely to be supported by an improving global and domestic growth outlook, strong investment activity, and exchange rate movements, it added. However, downside risks remain from tighter global monetary policy, and evolving trade regulations.
