Many in race to succeed Raghuram Rajan

Other names doing the rounds are that of chief economic advisor Arvind Subramanian, and former RBI deputy governors Rakesh Mohan and Subir Gokarn.

Mumbai/Delhi: There are several names doing the rounds for a successor to RBI governor Raghuram Rajan. If the government wants a name from within the RBI, it would be RBI deputy governor Urjit Patel but there is a lot of scepticism on whether this name would be accepted by the Sangh Parivar, say sources as he is also seen as an inflation hawk.

Other names doing the rounds are that of chief economic advisor Arvind Subramanian, and former RBI deputy governors Rakesh Mohan and Subir Gokarn.

The names of CAG Vinod Rai, and economic affairs secretary Shaktikanta Das. former finance secretary Vijay Kelkar, former CCI chairman Ashok Chawla, former CEA Ashok Lahiri and SBI chairperson Arundhati Bhattacharya are names hat are also doing the rounds.
