Charter planes new Ola, Uber of air travel; offer 50 per cent discounted fares

New Delhi: Much the way that you compare rates between Ola and Uber on your phone to book a cab, aircraft charter companies are planning to offer something similar to make flight fares cheaper for customers.

Yes, you read that right. An aggregator for all the myriad airfares from different airlines that offer prices up to 50 per cent lower! According to the Economic Times, as an aggregator, a company would offer flyers all available aircraft on one platform and optimise the use of the planes.

Currently, there are 129 airline operators in the country.

Usually, most charter companies charge customers all the costs related to hiring an aircraft. This refers to fare from home base, the flight fare and the return of the flight.

Under the aircraft charter model, flight fares can drop as much as 50 per cent and flying time can be reduced by matching the demand and supply more efficiently. Also, the overall flying time can be reduced, significantly lowering costs for customers vis-à-vis the rate charged by a standalone charter company, said Kanika Tekriwal, co-founder of Jet-SetGo, a New Delhi-based business charter company.

Another air charter business, Air One Aviation Pvt has offered up to 500 planes through its subsidiary Ezee Charter Pvt. One of its promoters, Alok Sharma said the charter business segment in the country going to expand and he plans to next venture into the leisure travel market.
