RBI says no GPS feature in Rs 2000 notes

Mumbai: RBI on Wednesday dismissed reports about the launch of GPS enabled currency notes that would help government to track and locate currency notes even if it is kept 120 metres below ground level. “It is not correct.

As soon as the Prime Minister announced the demonetisation of Rs 500 and Rs 1,000 notes on Tuesday, rumours about the issue of Rs 2000 notes with state of the art indigenous nano technology went viral on various social media platform describing the government’s move as revolutionary.
