Govt says it sees revenue expenditure at Rs 22.06 lakh crore in 2019-20

Mid-year expenditure framework says food subsidy has been projected at Rs 2 lakh crore for FY20.

Mumbai: The government on Thursday tabled mid-year expenditure framework in Parliament, pointing out various recent changes in key policy initiatives. It informed the Parliament that the food subsidy has been projected at Rs 1.75 lakh crore for financial year 2018-19 and Rs 2 lakh crore for 2019-20 fiscal.

"Government revenue expenditure for financial year 2019-20 is seen at Rs 22.06 lakh crore as against Rs 1.99 lakh crore for 2018-19 fiscal year," the report said.

The government also has projected petroleum subsidy at Rs 18,000 crore for FY19, Rs 10,000 crore in FY20 and fertiliser subsidy seen at Rs 70,000 crore each in FY19, FY20, it added.

The biggest takeaway from the report could be attributed to government's plans about LPG subsidy. It aims to eliminate subsidy on LPG by March 2018 and is now focussed on reducing kerosene subsidy, says mid-year expenditure framework.
