Karimnagar Transport wing shows growth in revenues
KARIMNAGAR: Road transport authority’s district unit continues to record significant growth in its revenues. It has earned income of Rs119.38 crore through various sources for 2015-16 financial year as against the annual target, Rs 141 crore, indicating over 14 per cent of increase in its income when compared with previous year’s earning. A sum of Rs 104.5 crore was registered in 2014-15 fiscal.
The district has 6,29,730 vehicles. Out of them, two wheelers account for 4, 40,220, while there are 31,838 cars and 26,022 auto rickshaws. Similarly, 16,743 goods carriers and 21,164 tractors can be found in the district. Other vehicles make over 65,000, according to information provided by RTA, Karimnagar.
A sum of Rs 119.38 crore income generated through various taxes and charges. Life taxes accounted for Rs 66.24 crore, while Rs 28.61 crore was earned through quarterly taxes. Fee for issuing driving licenses fetched Rs 11.55 crore and Rs 4.49 crore was seen in the form of service charges. A total of Rs 8.98 crore was made with the help of enforcement drives.
Speaking to this newspaper, deputy transport commissioner M.G. Vinod Kumar said that the unit showed a 14.23 per cent rise in its income when compared with previous year’s revenue. He attributed the increase to surge in life taxes and clampdown on overload vehicles carried out by authorities of the RTA. A sum of Rs 97 crore was earned in 2013-14 fiscal.
