New Delhi: Federation of Hotels and Restaurants Association of India (FHRAI), the apex body of the hotels and restaurants sector, has sought a uniform GST at 12 per cent for the hospitality industry.

In a representation to the finance ministry, FHRAI said that the proposal of 28 per cent GST slab will adversely impact the hospitality and tourism industry. It requested the government to re-look at the present rates fixed.

The representation, made by a delegation of the body, asked for a uniform Hospitality GST at 12 per cent across the country, it added. "The delegation requested the government to re-look at the luxury tax limit of Rs 5,000 and enhance it suitably as is followed in most of the countries in the world, since Rs 5,000 cannot be considered luxury today", FHRAI said.
