Healthcare Stack suggested
Hyderabad: With collection of health data proving difficult, Infosys co-founder Kris Gopalakrishnan on Wednesday favoured setting up a public health registry and Healthcare Stack in India on the lines of India Stack the technology behind Aadhaar and UPI.
“When it comes to healthcare, we need to rethink the model. Today, we have cloud technology where all the data can be stored in a single database. So, today if I'm going to design a healthcare system then the patient data, which belongs to the patient, will be on the cloud in a database that doesn't reside with the hospital, the insurance company, or with the government but an independent regulator,” Mr Gopalakrishnan said in a session at BioAsia.
With no leagcy of electronic healthcare data in the country, the Axilor Ventures chairman hopes that a public registry along with Healthcare Stack will help evolve the the system like the fintech industry. “The consumer will have the freedom to take the data anywhere. Data becomes accessible and portable. Research organisations too will benefit as there is a common databases that can be used,” he said.
